Crocosmia Emily McKenzie
This large-flowered variety is a favorite for cut flowers. Emily McKenzie Crocosmia produces brilliant orange, tubular flowers accented with a red halo-like ring surrounding a yellow throat. Growing 30" tall, its wiry stems make it ideal for cut flowers. Crocosmia bloom in July-August and look best when planted in groups of 12 or more. The name comes from the Greek language and means "saffron smell," which reportedly can be detected when dried flowers are submerged in water. Plant in full sun to part shade among your perennials. Non-demanding bulbs will come back each year.
